01. Profile [ 🐼 ]
Emmanuel Chan
I simplify complexity and deliver results.
I make sense of the complex. That's been my through-line from serving in federal government, scaling products at big tech, and supporting the next-generation of founders. The pattern: I find messy problems, build mechanisms, and rally teams to deliver results.
02. Experience [ 💼 ]
Seattle Accelerator Lead

Built Plug and Play Seattle's first-ever accelerator program from zero—designing the operating model, establishing the mentor ecosystem, building community through events, and driving the success of 2 batches to date.

  • Recruited 50+ mentors and partners across Go-To-Market (GTM), product-market fit, commercialization, and corporate partnerships
  • Designed and created everything from scratch: the program strategy, operational infrastructure, community engagement (40+ events)

✨ First week: straight into organizing our Seattle Launch and Selection Day Event. 3-months later, graduating our first batch with a Top 10 Net Promoter Score (NPS) on the Plug and Play (PnP) platform.

Retail Leadership Development Program & Small Business

Drove eight-figure business savings by designing and fixing mechanisms in the returns process. Amplified the reach and voice of small business sellers through data-driven approaches and storytelling.

  • Restructured worldwide small business classification spanning 260K brands and $1.2B in annual revenue
  • Built products and programs at scale: launched "Frequently Returned Items" badge, re-architected Small Business badge—impacting millions of customers daily

✨ Came in through the Retail Leadership Development Program. Ended up owning products that touched millions.

Yellow Accelerator

Embedded and advised portfolio founders on dive deep projects that drove towards Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): restructuring pitch decks, figuring out Go-To-Market (GTM), and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Also ran the early days of our Community efforts.

  • Got tactical on high-impact projects: devised Go-To-Market (GTM) for a blue-collar social network targeting truckers, coached pitch narrative for an Augmented Reality (AR) company, and re-architected content systems for a media startup building the next Forbes for diverse entrepreneurship
  • Designed and created the early days of Yellow's Community strategy: from our newsletters, events, thought pieces, and engagement strategy.

✨ Rubbed elbows with the likes of Marc Cuban, Chamillionaire, Evan Spiegel -- all via Zoom.

Program Lead

Ran multiple accelerator cohorts supporting 50+ early-stage founders building everything from fintech payments for SMBs to video games for the neurodiverse to Latin(x) streetwear.

  • Grew our content platform, wrote and celebrated our founders, and as a result grew our community, brand and following by 75%.
  • Built the connective tissue between founders, mentors, and funders, creating mechanisms and processes that fostered a close-knit community.

✨ Best moments: Getting deep with founders and being able to tell their professional and personal stories, like this, this, and that.

Social Impact Consultant

Social Impact consultant to the Hollywood stars. Led expansion efforts for Bradley Cooper's patient navigation program to two new cancer sites, and architected Stephanie McMahon's pediatric cancer moonshot initiative.

  • Spearheaded site selection from start to finish, identifying and onboarding two new cancer centers for Bradley Cooper's patient navigation program expansion.
  • Conducted and delivered a landscape analysis of the pediatric cancer space to identify areas of opportunity to amplify Stephanie McMahon's impact and steer the direction of her moonshot initiative.

✨ Found out that 'social impact consultant to the stars' sounds glamorous until you're elbow-deep in hospital RFPs. Worth it.

Special Assistant & Advisor

Three roles in three years. Right hand to one of the President's 15 senior-most staff—running cross-functional projects and leading culture for the largest office on campus.

  • Chaired the Health & Wellness Council (30 staffers, 75+ events) and drove real-world changes for staff: nursing rooms for mothers, extended paid paternity leave, and healthier food and vending options.
  • Led special projects for the Office of Management and Administration spanning presidential transition support, organizing departure meet-and-greets with the President for departing staff, and reimagining the West Wing tours experience.

✨ No two days are the same at The White House. But some special memories: running into Bo and Sunny (the Presidential Dogs) on their daily walks, escorting Samuel L. Jackson and his family around the grounds, and introducing my family to the President at the very end.

St. Louis Fellow '13

Intensive public affairs and leadership fellowship that threw me into every corner of St Louis' community - government, labor, business, political campaigns and nonprofits.

  • Day: deep dives into cross-sector collaborations via placements, community interviews, and focus weeks. Night: building public affairs skills and 'Coro Tool' frameworks to deploy immediately.
  • Built and delivered projects over one-month stints from: developing a website for a labor union accelerator, raising funds for a nonprofit social circus, and launching the early days of a women's loan fund for a regional microlender.

✨ The fellowship where they break you down, build you back up, and you somehow thank them for it.
